I had the pleasure of dining with Jacques and Magda Hervot in San José recently where they informed me they have changed their life focus.
Jacques looked me in the eye and said, “I have quit painting.” No, I cried. Why? His response was heart felt and I could understand the need to make a change. We Baby Boomers have come of age and the answers we sought so long ago are starting to be answered. As we approach the logical age to think about retirement we have to ask ourselves, how much is enough? How much money is enough to last us until our lives are over? How much work do I need to do in order to feel fulfilled or fed up?
In Jacques’ case along with his lovely wife, Magda they have enough. It’s time to start just “being” and giving back a little. Their thoughts of the future include starting to help to teach awareness of the planet to children and possibly help children paint.
This next phase should be interesting and I truly hope Jacques does paint again some day but we are happy with the wonderful work he has given us in the past and wish him well in this next evolution.
